ब्रह्मार्पणं ब्रह्म हविर्ब्रह्माग्नौ ब्रह्मणा हुतम्  ।

ब्रह्मैव तेन गन्तव्यं ब्रह्मकर्मसमाधिना  ॥२४॥

brahmārpaṇaṁ brahma havir brahmāgnau brahmaṇā hutam /

brahmaiva tena gantavyaṁ brahmakarmasamādhinā //24//

The act of offering is Brahman, the oblation is Brahman,
By Brahman it is offered into the fire of Brahman.
Brahman is That which is to be attained by s/he
who performs actions pertaining to Brahman.

Its not just what we eat and how we eat but the important question is when we eat. By and large people follow the clock and eat breakfast lunch dinner according to the time factor.. But there is a biological rhythm and a biological clock that is in motion. The body sends out feelings of hunger. We get hunger pangs…are you sure you are hungry??? Have you tried drinking a glass of water at that time?? Eating style and choices are formed and developed by habit.

Nutrition is a must. Like Swami Yukteshwar had once told Paramahansa Yogananda when the latter was extremely hungry and remarked I will die if I don’t eat and the former replied  die if you must Mukunda. you do not live by food alone.

This takes us to the awareness about fasting and feasting. In some communities .Certain periods/months/days are observed for fasting or the abstention of meat and select practices. This works like detoxification and cleanses the body and mind.

So when do we eat – this is vital and we learn and cultivate this through the awareness of understanding our body. Like we slowly respect food and say our prayers sending out blessings from the farmer to the server of the food similarly we become aware of the nutrition that our body needs and how much to consume. This does  not mean  we sit with a calorie calculator and get obsessed. This is developed gradually especially in our fast paced world of easy access to junk food .

Gratitude and mindfulness are said to transform food from mere sustenance into manna.

Life Coaching for Children

Is your child have problems with social skills?

Yes to these questions means the child needs addressing and attention. It is difficult for parents and teachers to identify the challenges posed by the children.  It does take time to differentiate between a misbehaved child and a child with abnormal behavior. Understanding, right guidance, motivation and plenty of encouragement, enable kids to develop confidence, determination, resilience and strong emotional intelligence.

There is no standard rule for raising children. As parents we give in our best and do our best in bringing up our kids to the best of our abilities. There  is however a reflection of our own socialization process and we try not to make the mistakes our parents committed. But where we falter is when we try to fulfil our wishes and dreams through our kids. This causes an altercation and dysfunction.

Parenting  leaves an impact on children as they mirror the attitude and behavior of parents. An abusive father can be the cause of a child developing fear . Parents not giving attention to children, the child may seek attention from the peer group or in unwarranted relationships. Over possessiveness, pampering, neglecting, succumbing to tantrums, no one-on-one time, pressurizing, beating are some of the mistakes parents make.

Poor academic achievement, bullying, stealing, anger, stress, attention deficit,, divorced parents, social skills difficulties, health issues, sibling rivalry undue expectation from teachers and parents,  are some of the challenges faced by children.
