Prevention is better than cure / Counselling

Do stress, anger, pain …….really need to be managed. ?

Would you want to experience stress, anger and pain?

These are emotions we counter in our daily lives. Some people have high thresholds to manage challenging situations while some don’t. The intensity of these emotions for each one of us may vary for a series of reasons depending on our personalities and mental abilities.

In situations of Stress, anger, anxiety it may seem like there’s nothing we can do about them. These emotions make us feel helpless and sometimes we take drastic measures that may make us feel worse than better. Adding fuel to the fire…unfortunately which we have started. Yes, the onus lies with us.

We all have responsibilities, we all have the same number of hours, we all have bills to pay, we all face challenging times, we all have the capability to think, and we all have the ability to take control.

Pain can be both physical and mental. Physical pain caused by injury can be healed through exercises, therapy, medicines. Physical pain can also be an offshoot of mental suffering or distress like unhappiness, grief or trauma which reflects in the body.

Our emotional equilibrium and physical health gets imbalanced and our ability to think clearly and function effectively gets distorted.

Our attitudes, habits and lifestyles however influence our behavior and our relation with our emotions.

Cognitive behavioural therapy, relaxation techniques, biofeedback works as a solution once we are stressed, feel angry or in pain….

However to go beyond these and to understand the preventive measures call us at Tatvamasi to change your thought process and to get rewired to newer perspectives.

Managerial Skills / Life Coaching

Would you want to be a positive influence on others?

Are your team members comprehending your instructions?

Are you feeling low and not very vibrant?

Would you like to know how human engineering works?

How to inspire your staff ?

What is the secret to your success?

A Manager is a person responsible for controlling or administering an organisation or group of staff. A manager either joins a company at a managerial level or may go up the ladder according to hierarchy to a managerial position. This calls for skills and talent based on the nature of the job. The senior management observes the quality of work, the resourcefulness, the thought process, the capability to handle a tough situation, relationship with the team mates, discipline, dress code and grooming, business development aptitude, attitude, before considering a promotion.

The manager may join the company based on certain technical skills related to his career and organization. However the skills to deal with others may not necessarily be inherent but these can be developed on the job.

Soft skills like decision making, communication, problem solving , planning and delegation are vital for a role of a manager.

A manager needs to have the capability for time management which is exposed during work and through prioritizing. This is not a skill that can be written in the resume but needs to be exercised.

Meeting targets, review’s, feedback, team networking, reporting, planning, organising, directing, recruiting make a managerial package.

Conversation / Yoga Practise

Student – I want to learn yoga

Teacher – any specific reason

Student – I associate it with Buddha…so calm

Teacher – are you disturbed and troubled

Student – not at all. I’m very happy

Teacher – how do you spend your day? Do you work?

Student – I’m at home. Recently lost my mother in law to cancer. We are only 3 at home now.  Our daughter 16 years old and my husband

Teacher – your daughter must be having a lot of demands

Student – oh my god how did you know I’m so hassled and this went on and on….

The conversation became a monologue!

This short and simple conversation actually got profound and was enough to bring out  the true reason and essence to learn yoga . The student was looking at the practice to get relief  from her discomfort , as catharsis. Apparently this disturbance was reflecting in binge eating resulting in weight gain as well.

She was tuned to know that she would feel relaxed and calm through meditation. But HOW was the question. She was seeking answers. Like they say there are no co incidences in life. We get our answers when we are ready. But it’s left to us to make the efforts and follow a discipline religiously without obsession.

Soft Skills – Lead by Example

Soft skills refer to personal attributes that enable someone to interact effectively and harmoniously with other people.  These are intangible and non-technical.

Skills related to psychological behavior like coping skills, decision making skills, inter-personal relationship skills, strategic thinking, critical thinking, communication, emotional intelligence come under this category.

Soft skills relate to an individual’s attitudes and intuitions. These can be exposed at an interview table where the first impression is made. This however is from a job and career context. But soft skills are required in every sphere of our lives. They are personality driven and reflect our upbringing and culture.

Soft skills are different from hard skills .Hard skills are the tangible and technical skills demonstrated by an individual’s qualifications and specific professional experiences,

Thinking out of the box or stepping back from the dance floor to get on top for a balcony view, thinking big, weighing different options would categorize under strategic thinking.

To be able to get out of the comfort zone with a high risk appetite and not following conventional wisdom would make an individual’s critical thinking appreciable. They do not necessarily follow logical thinking.

Qualities of self-assessment, self-awareness, and self-management would rate an individual’s emotional intelligence.

Communication plays a key role in our daily lives. What we say, how we say, when we say, our body language, the choice of words, the tone of our voice creates an impact on the listener. This skill can be developed and learnt.

Values are cultivated. To present oneself based on their respective values is an inherent soft skill. Honesty, integrity, patience for example present themselves organically in any situation. This serves as a source of inspiration and motivation especially in a work place.

A productive and healthy work environment depends on soft skills. After all, the workplace is an interpersonal space, where relationships must be built and fostered, perspectives are exchanged, and occasionally conflicts must be resolved.

Are you feeling low and not very vibrant?

Would you like to know how human engineering works?

Do you feel like a fish out of water in your current job?

A skill set refers to a person’s abilities, knowledge and experience to perform a particular job. Specific skill set areas include human relations, research and planning, accounting, education, leadership, management, computers, tele-calling,  etc . An individual can choose his career based on his skill sets or select a career to learn and develop new skills.

A person maybe a misfit in a particular job and feel restless if the right skills are not identified and utilized by the management. Sometimes on goes through a stage of trial and error till the right match has been made. It is guaranteed the individual will excel in the field of choice with the complementing skill sets.

Some skills like painting, music and other creative arts maybe inherent in a person. These are fine-tuned further based on different classes and courses. Similarly the agility and flexibility for sports maybe intrinsic and can be enhanced through training. Psychology plays an important part here in the development process .To progress further in a specific field the role of a counsellor gets inevitable.to deal with emotions of anxiety, stress, temper, irritation ,frustration, acceptance of failure, change in attitudes, addressing warped thinking.

At Tatvamasi through psychological counselling we not only help you identify your area of strength but suggest advice and train to improve your skills

With effective communication skills the manager plans and implements the company drawn policies through his subordinates.

The efficacy, outlook and output of the team solely depends on the Manager. The Manager needs to be up to date with the current market trends, relevant technologies and taxation laws in their specific fields.

Managers need to serve as the link to string the entire team. And keep them lubricated well to work together.

I Eat ..therefore I am / Nutrition

We are what we eat. We are what we speak. We are what we see. We are what we hear. We are what we touch. We are what we think. We are….

Descartes said “I think, therefore I am” and “I am, I exist,” mean the same thing. That’s Descartes philosophy and thinking is our being. ..a non-stop activity. Essentially according to the philosophy thinking was the foundation for knowledge but how each one of us thinks depends on our perceptions.

With thinking as the core of human intelligence all our actions are inter-linked based on our thought processes and the stimulus we receive.

Food and diet apply the same psychology. Nutrition is the study of nutrients in food, how the body uses nutrients, and the relationship between diet, health, and disease Based on our perception of taste we eat mindlessly (often times!) giving in to our wants, desires and temptations. We never pause to think how and where the ingredients are sourced from, the behavior of the person cooking, how the food is served, how palatable it is. Ultimately the equation of the food we eat is the sum total from the soil to the cooked dish to the digestion process.

Some things maybe in our control and some not. The choice of foods, to the way we perceive food and our relationship with food matter for health and wellness .How we address our food to the process of chewing plays an important role.  Nowadays it has become a fad and a matter of convenience to eat out or food bought from outside kitchens.  To the extent food porn is gaining popularity to entice our senses!.
